DRC: One step closer to realizing President Félix Tshisekedi’s vision to modernize and streamline the capital
As part of his extensive infrastructure modernization program, President Félix Tshisekedi inaugurated the construction of the Kinshasa bypass road this Saturday. This ambitious project aims to ease traffic flow in the capital and improve access to N’djili International Airport, thereby alleviating the daily mobility challenges faced by the population.
The 63-kilometer Kinshasa bypass will serve as a ring road to relieve congestion by connecting the city’s southeastern and southwestern parts. Starting from the city of Mbudi, it will follow the Caravane Road and pass through several key neighborhoods, including Mitendi, Joli Site, Bralima, Riflar, Rail, Ndjili Brasserie, Ceco-maf, Buma, and Ndjoko, eventually joining National Route 1 at Badara near N’djili International Airport.
The construction of this bypass is planned to span three years, with an estimated budget of $300 million USD. This initiative marks a significant milestone in the revival of the Sino-Congolese program, renegotiated by President Félix Tshisekedi. The objective is to ensure a genuinely beneficial partnership for the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) by modernizing the country’s road infrastructure.
The establishment of the Kinshasa bypass directly addresses the traffic challenges faced by the city’s residents. By facilitating travel to the airport and improving connectivity between different parts of the city, this project promises to transform the daily lives of Kinshasa’s inhabitants by providing more efficient and well-maintained roads.
