Burkina Faso : The Burkina Faso Council of Ministers provides an update on compensation for former popular day-care centers
This Thursday, the President of the Transition and Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, chaired the weekly Council of Ministers of Burkina Faso. During this session, several important issues were reviewed, and various reports were adopted, according to information communicated by the Minister of State and government spokesperson, Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo.
A major point discussed during the Council was the partial report on the compensation work for former workers of the popular daycare centers, overseen by the Ministry of Public Service, Labor, and Social Protection. Bassolma Bazié, the Minister of State in charge of Public Service of Burkina Faso, reminded that the Council had authorized the resolution of this complex issue dating back to 1990, involving 548 former employees, in August 2023.
However, difficulties have emerged in processing these cases. According to the minister, of the 548 people concerned, 247 have had their cases fully or partially processed. Errors were identified in the files of 178 people, requiring a thorough evaluation to correct these anomalies. Bazié emphasized the need to review the situation to obtain new authorization to continue processing the cases.
The authorization to continue processing has been obtained, but challenges remain, particularly concerning the cases of about one hundred former employees. The government is actively working to find appropriate solutions to resolve these complex situations and ensure fair compensation for all the former workers involved.
This session of the Council of Ministers reflects the commitment of the Burkinabe authorities to address sensitive issues and resolve administrative problems inherited from the past.
