Niger: Pentagon officials in Niamey, departure of American soldiers taking shape

It’s the logical continuation after the Nigerien authorities denounced the defense agreement with the United States. This American delegation, led by Christopher Maier, Deputy Secretary of Defense for Special Operations, was received by the Minister of Defense, General Salifou Mody, to present the plan for the departure of the 1.100 soldiers stationed in Niger as part of the fight against terrorism.

This is the first official meeting after Niger decided to sever ties with the United States in terms of military cooperation. This rupture occurred between Niamey and Washington due to the condescending attitude of the Americans towards the strategic rapprochement of the new authorities of Niger with Moscow and Tehran.

This marks the beginning of the divorce between the two countries, even though the United States maintains humanitarian cooperation with Niger. In other words, by disengaging their soldiers from Niamey, the Nigerien authorities are thus putting an end to these imperialists who think they have a veto right over the country, as does France, and are thus leaving the field open for Niger’s new partners to implement their win-win partnership plan.

And above all, these new partners will implement their strategies to help Niger efficiently fight terrorism, which has not been the case with France and the United States despite their state-of-the-art equipment and logistics.

Niger : Forced departure of U.S. troops, start of another arm wrestling match with France ?
