Burkina Faso: Providing equipment and inputs to producers, towards Food Self-Sufficiency under President Ibrahim Traoré

By launching the agricultural presidential initiative and the agro-pastoral and fisheries offensive, President Ibrahim Traoré has committed to ensuring food security and promoting food sovereignty for the Burkinabe people. This vision of the Burkinabe leader has become a reality in the country, further materializing through various means implemented.

After securing the territory to allow farmers access to their lands and providing seeds for crops, the government has now made available to Burkinabe producers agricultural equipment and inputs (400 tractors, 239 tillers, 710 motor pumps, 714 motorcycles).

In doing so, the government aims to strengthen the production capacities of rural actors, thereby increasing production and improving agricultural yields. The objective is to achieve food self-sufficiency, the second priority of the head of state after the fight against terrorism.

In addition to agricultural equipment, the Burkinabe government also supports agricultural producers with inputs and improved seeds. With this equipment and inputs provided to rural areas valued at over 78 billion, the country takes a significant step towards achieving food sovereignty, aiming to reduce the country’s dependence on imports of essential products.
