Africa : Threat to cooperation Burkina Faso-Ghana, below a possible manipulation

Burkina Faso and Ghana maintain positive bilateral relations. Breaking news suggests that there are attempts to sow discord within this fruitful cooperation. Significant pressure is currently weighing on the head of Ghana President, Nana Akufo-Addo.

According to reports, President Emmanuel Macron has sought the support of Alassane Ouattara to use Ghana’s President as an intermediary to reach Burkina Faso. Alassane Ouattara’s mission would be to persuade Nana Akufo-Addo to reduce the energy supply line to Burkina Faso, a pressure that the Ghanaian President seems to be resisting.

Nana Akufo-Addo appears to be choosing to maintain his position as a loyal partner to his Burkinabe counterpart, Captain Ibrahim Traoré. However, the reduction in electricity requested by Macron and Ouattara could have detrimental economic consequences for Ghana, leading to disruptions in supply chains and economic tension.

Macron aims to make life difficult for Ghanaians, following the model of Alassane Ouattara in Côte d’Ivoire. It is reported that Ouattara would be willing to subsidize any potential losses from this measure in Ghana, although under his leadership in Côte d’Ivoire, the population experienced significant economic hardships.

Ivoirians express their dissatisfaction with the high cost of living, sparking social demands. Investigations are underway to uncover potential plots by Macron and Alassane Ouattara. Observers urge President Nana Akufo-Addo to maintain his position of non-complicity in destabilizing Burkina Faso.
