Burkina Faso/Counter-terrorism : The Resolution adopted for 2024 becomes a reality

As a reminder, in the year 2024, the transitional authorities in Burkina Faso resolved to put an end to the terrorism that has plagued the country for over eight (08) years, aiming to restore peace, stability, and reclaim the entire national territory. To achieve this, the strategy has been to encourage, motivate, and better equip the combat forces.

This strategy of the transitional authorities seems to be working perfectly. Since its implementation, that is, since the Burkinabé people recognized the importance of supporting and contributing to the war effort, the fighters are more galvanized than ever, replenished, and fully committed to the daily battle.

The decision of the authorities to make the year 2024 a grave for terrorist criminals has received exceptional support from these brave fighters. The results of this support and the determination of these Burkinabé soldiers and their auxiliary forces, the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), are particularly noticeable in the operations at the beginning of this year.

We can take the recent exploits of the combat forces over the weekend as an example. Reliable sources report the thwarting of several terrorist attacks, the neutralization of dozens of terrorists by aerial units, and the recovery of significant war materials belonging to the wrongdoers on Saturday, January 13, and Sunday, January 14, 2024.

Specifically, battles were waged on Saturday in the area known as the Three Borders, the junction between Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger, as well as in the Boucle du Mouhoun region, Northwest, and the Eastern region of Burkina Faso. The operation continued on Sunday in the Three Borders area with heavy weapons, neutralizing several criminals once again.

It is worth noting that the Burkinabé army received a significant new batch of war materials from the country’s authorities last week. This allows for the intensification of the fight and the ability to eliminate all criminals in Burkina Faso and the AES (Area of Eastern States).
