BURKINA FASO: SECURITY MEASURES/ CURFEW AND TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS IMPOSED IN THE PROVINCE OF SOUROU
The High Commissioner of Sourou, Salif Traoré, issued a number of measures on Saturday, November 25, 2023, as part of the fight against insecurity in the province. The departments of Kiembera and Lankoué are subjected to a curfew and restricted movement for three months.
Due to the security situation prevailing in the departments of Kiembera and Lankoué, the High Commissioner of the Sourou province (in the Boucle du Mouhoun region) announces the imposition of a curfew and restrictions on movement from November 25, 2023, to February 25, 2024.
During the curfew period, the movement of people and goods is prohibited from 6 pm to 6 am throughout the territories of these departments, specified the High Commissioner in a statement.
As for ambulances, movement during these hours is subject to the presentation of a pass or a mission order, according to the note.
The announcement of these measures is motivated by the actions of terrorist groups earlier in November. Indeed, several incursions by criminal groups have been recorded in villages located in the mentioned departments.
The patriotic fighters tirelessly continue operations on various fronts as part of the anti-terrorist war imposed on the Burkinabè people. However, the task is extensive, and the work cannot be completed at the snap of a finger. In this context, Burkina cannot hold elections worthy of the name.
This justifies the decision of the transitional authorities to prioritize the war for the reconquest of territorial integrity. In other words, despite the significant victories achieved on the theater of operations, Burkina is not ready to hold elections until all areas are secured.
