Niger: CNSP President grateful to brotherly AES countries

The President of the transition in Niger, Head of State, General Abdourahamane TIANI, is grateful to the authorities and people of Burkina Faso and Mali for the unwavering solidarity and support they have shown since the coup d’état on July 26, 2023.

The Nigerien Head of State expressed his gratitude, as did his people, to the fraternal peoples of Mali and Burkina Faso during his working visit on Thursday, November 23, 2023. Sincere and deep solidarity in determination is what the Nigerien people needed to face the pressures from ECOWAS and its allies.

As a reminder, Niger was severely sanctioned by ECOWAS on July 30, 2023, just a few days after the coup that ousted the then President, Mohamed Bazoum. The peak was considering an aggression against the West African brotherly country to restore constitutional order, an option by ECOWAS that seems to be buried today.

Fortunately, countries like Burkina Faso and Mali vehemently opposed these sanctions and openly declared their support for Niger in case of aggression. They remained firm and resolute in their decision, which President Abdourahamane TIANI believes significantly dampened the aggressors’ fervor.

Hence, General Abdourahamane TIANI wished to express his and the Nigerien people’s gratitude to the fraternal peoples and authorities of these two countries. He described their solidarity as sincere and profound, something the Nigeriens are unlikely to forget. Solidarity and fraternity among Africans are what the continent needs for its total sovereignty and effective and sustainable development.
