Democratic Republic of Congo: Candidate Félix Tshisekedi in Charm Offensive with Electorate

The President of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Félix Tshisekedi, will participate on November 24th in Arusha, Tanzania, in an extraordinary summit of the East African Community (EAC). On the agenda for this meeting are the persistent tensions between Kinshasa and Kigali and the security situation in eastern DRC.

Prior to this, consultations were held between the Congolese and Rwandan presidents and Avril Haines, the Director of National Intelligence of the United States. The aim of these consultations was to obtain commitments from both heads of state to work towards easing tensions between Kinshasa and Kigali, which is considered the stronghold of the M23 rebel group that exerts influence in that part of Congo.

Furthermore, Félix Tshisekedi, a candidate for his own re-election, will have to manage his schedule due to the ongoing electoral campaign in the country leading up to the electoral consultations in December 2023. The presidential candidate is actively engaging with his electorate. Between inaugurating the Kinsuka power station, unveiling new modern infrastructure meeting international standards at INBTP, the candidate is reaching out to the Congolese people.

During his campaign in the Muanda province, the candidate also inaugurated sustainable development projects (including buildings constructed as part of the Local Development Program in 145 territories and a morgue built within the premises of the Kitona military base hospital) and promised the creation of new jobs through the construction of the future port of Muanda.

All these achievements and promises, soon to materialize, reinforce the vision of a prosperous Congo envisioned by Félix Tshisekedi.
