Gabon: The Transitional President has removed Ali Bongo’s half-brother, Frédéric Bongo, from the Republican Guard

Fréderic Bongo was no longer in the smell of holiness in the ranks of the Republican Guard led by General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema since 2018. A further disaffection amplified by the fall on August 30 of Ali Bongo, his half-brother, from the presidential throne confiscated by this ruling family in Gabon since 1964.

The Committee for the Transition and Restoration of Institutions obviously want to put an end to the disorders that some figures of the former regime of Ali Bongo have shown so far, which should not be the case in a serious country.

An unprecedented presidential decision has shaken the Gabonese military arena since Monday, October 23, 2023. It is about the radiation of Lieutenant-Colonel Fréderic Bongo Ondimba from the Gabonese Republican Guard (GR). The announcement, published in the Official Journal, stems from Presidential Decree No. 0024/PRIMDNICAB-MD-PT, signed by Brigadier General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, President of the Transition

According to this decree, Lieutenant-Colonel Fréderic Bongo, number 604688T, was revoked for a series of serious faults, including faults against honor, probity and general duties, faults against military discipline, faults that tend to exempt their authors from their military obligation and breaches of the rules of performance of services. The decision puts an end to the military career of Frédéric Bongo, who was in service with the Gabonese Republican Guard since 2005.

Radiation is still a strong signal to call to order those who deliberately trample on the most elementary rules of institutions. For the President of the transition, General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, Gabon would no longer be a petaudière in which because we are close to the family of the president, we can afford everything. And Fréderic Bongo learned the hard way.
