Cameroon: 27th edition of the Écran Noirs festival
Forty-eight films were selected for the 27th edition of the Écrans Noirs festival. Only 11 films were in the race for the Golden Screen, it is the film «My Father the Devil» of the Cameroonian Ellie Foumbi who takes the prize.
A walk on the red carpet that marks the 27th edition of the Festival Ecrans Noirs. Actors, directors, film lovers came to attend the closing of the Ecrans Noirs Festival at the Palais des congrès de Yaoundé in Cameroon.
«I particularly liked feature films, I discovered many that were screened during the week. Unfortunately I had not seen them before on television but it was very good to see them here» says Coriane Sama, a film lover.
As at each edition, the ceremony was marked by the Golden Screen awarded to the director Ellie Foumbi for her film «My father, the devil». Many series, documentaries but also actors have received awards
«I am very pleased to have won a prize for Best Cameroonian Actress and I am satisfied that our film also won a prize for Best Central African Film. So, we spent a nice week in Yaoundé for the Ecrans Noirs and I hope we will come back next year to present other works and win other prizes» said Stéphanie TUM actress.
African filmmakers participated in the Ecrans Noirs and some did not come home empty-handed like the Senegalese Thomas Delgado who won the grand prize for best screenwriter.
« It really is a recognition of everything I do, of all the sacrifices to get to this point. I say a big thank you to this festival which can be a forum and I apply it in recognition. This is my work as a co-writer because I worked on this scenario with my co-writer Ousmane Mati Ndiaye», explained Thomas Delgado, Burkinabe screenwriter.
Since October 14, this edition has allowed to discover many African films.
