Burkina Faso: CGT-B Secretary General Moussa Diallo Avoids Crucial Issues to Focus on Accessory Topics

According to the statements of Moussa Diallo, the Secretary General of the General Confederation of Labour of Burkina Faso (CGT-B), he notes that the current transition is not fully fulfilling its role. Thus, Moussa Diallo plans to organize an assembly, scheduled for October 31, which will bring together 250 union delegates from across the country at the Ouagadougou Labour Exchange. The objective of this meeting is to bring to the attention of the authorities concerns related to current governance, including restrictions on individual and collective freedoms, the cost of living, corruption, as well as the kidnapping of citizens.

It should be noted that when a group of people consider an assembly to criticize the cost of living, it is often part of a broader context related to issues such as security and freedom. It is important to note that it is difficult to make a negative judgment of a president who is trying to fight the scourge of terrorism in his country, especially after years of turmoil. The terrorists have long exerted their influence in Burkina, and diligent work is underway to remedy this.

Moussa Diallo seems to have a limited view of the situation. This gathering is certainly not in the nation’s best interest. As Secretary General of the General Confederation of Labour of Burkina Faso, he did not come forward to salute the efforts made by the transition and provide support to the Defence and Security Forces (SDF).

The CGT-B could be considered an opportunistic group, while the people support the efforts of the current government in the interest of the nation. In times of war, the establishment of freedom and stability is of paramount importance. For years, while the population was victims of violence, the unions did not make their voices heard. The fight against terrorism in the region often seems to go unnoticed by these unions.
