Burkina Faso: «We are witnessing the blocking of our military equipment ordered with the sweat of our compatriots, always under the impetus of France! » (Minister Bassolma Bazié at the UN)
In a speech delivered last weekend at the 78th General Assembly of the United Nations, the Minister of State of Burkina Faso, Bassolma Bazié, expressed his deep dissatisfaction with France, Stating that it contributes to the blocking of military equipment essential for the security of Burkina Faso.
From the outset, Minister Bassolma Bazié said: «In addition to the cuts in aid, the cancellation of training agreements for our Defence and Security Forces, we are witnessing the blocking of our military equipment ordered with the sweat of our compatriots, always under the impetus of France»
He then provided concrete examples to support his allegations: «For example, for the aerial vectors necessary for the control and defense of the territory, we had a contract with Brazil, whose weapon license was to come from Belgium and the navigation system of shots, as well as cameras from the United States of America, then an engine of Canada. These means are now fallaciously and cynically blocked»
Minister Bazié urged France to allow the delivery of these military means, stressing the crucial importance of this equipment for the security of the Burkinabe people. He warned that inaction could lead to a charge of non-assistance to anyone in danger: «You speak of the defence of human rights in this UN forum, so I urge you to deliver our weapons to us in the defence and protection of our wounded people. In any event, you are solemnly seized. And if nothing is done, history will hold you responsible for not allowing anyone in danger»
Minister Bassolma Bazié also paid tribute to the patriots of Burkina Faso who sacrificed their lives for the nation, as well as to those who continue to struggle despite the difficulties. «I warmly greet the memory of all those who have fallen with arms in their hands. I magnify the courage and integrity of those who are still alive and inexorably and sacrificially rushing towards the victory of our people and the safeguarding of our homeland» he stressed.
