Nigeria: About the mysterious death of the artist Singer MOHBAD

The death of a prominent African-American singer and rapper sparked outrage in Nigeria, after his mysterious death last week.

Thousands of Nigerians marched across the country on Thursday to get answers to the death of Ilerioluwa Aloba, who happened under the name MohBad. The 27-year-old man was confirmed dead on 13 September

In reality the late Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known as MohBad, was one of the rising stars of the genus Afrobeats.

Nigerian fans took to the streets, seeking answers to his death in a Lagos hospital under vague circumstances.

Aloba was taken to a hospital in Lagos for an unknown illness, he later died under uncertain circumstances. Nigerian authorities said they exhumed his body on Thursday amid calls for an investigation into the death.

A candlelight vigil took place in Lagos on Thursday night, after similar events in other parts of the country.

In addition, fans on social media have called for justice for MohBad.

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu tweeted on Thursday that he was «not unaware of Aloba’s sad disappearance»

«I ordered that all those who played any role in any event leading to the death of MohBad be brought to face the law after a thorough investigation» Sanwo-Olu said.

He also urged «all friends and fans of the deceased to remain calm and refrain from making inflammatory statements and reaching harmful conclusions on this issue»

Mohbad’s mom is incossolable

Aloba, known for such songs as «Feel Good»and «Peace» was a rising star in the Afrobeats genre. He became known in 2019 and signed with the influential label of Nigerian singer Naira Marley.

Aloba left Marley’s label in 2022 after an argument with the singer. According to the Nigerian newspaper Daily Trust, Aloba’s mother, Promise Aloba, believes that Naira Marley is «linked to the death of her son»

«I know my son, he told me that Naira Marley usually threatened him» Promise Aloba said, according to the newspaper. «Please, the Nigerians help me look for him; have mercy on me; that’s all you can do for me»

Marley’s etiquette reprimanded the allegations, with Naira Marley referring to Aloba as a brother.

«No family is perfect, families have disagreements, but no harm was desired on MohBad. So much was not said, but love was still there» Malian Records posted on social media.
