Burkina Faso: New victory for the army
The Burkinabe army has been racking up security victories in recent months. Battle-hardened and highly combative, it has once again demonstrated its dexterity by neutralising the enemy.
In the early hours of Thursday 14 September 2023, an armed terrorist group estimated to number around 300 criminals launched an assault on a Forces combattantes position in Sogodin, in the Centre Nord region.
But they were quickly repelled by the valiant fighters. They split into several groups, but unfortunately for them, air reinforcements consisting of helicopters and sophisticated drones decimated them all.
According to sources, the hunt for the terrorists is continuing on several fronts.
Brought to power on 02 October 2022, transitional president Ibrahim Traore criticised his predecessor Paul Henri Damiba for failing to keep his promises to the people in the area of security. Since then, he has affirmed his determination to wage a fierce battle against the jihadists who control around 40% of the country. He has succeeded in equipping the army with cutting-edge equipment to see the Burkinabe army triumph over these detractors. Thanks to the valiant people of Burkina Faso, and a patriotic army, the results of this fight against the terrorists are convincing.
