Leonardo Bonucci plots revenge against Juventus!

Twelve seasons in Turin, with a brief interlude in Milan in between. Clearly, Leonardo Bonucci was one of the big names at the Piedmont outfit over the past decade. But at the age of 36, the Italian centre-back’s love affair with the Old Lady came to an end this summer, and he headed to Union Berlin for a final challenge at the highest level.

It was a controversial departure, given that the player was sidelined in a sort of loft in Turin, unable to train with his team-mates. As Sky Italia reports, Union Berlin’s new No23 intends to take revenge and take his former club to court. He is seeking damages from his former employer.

In particular, he feels that being sidelined from the Turin squad has prevented him from preparing as well as possible for the coming season, and is damaging him as a professional sportsman. It has to be said, for example, that he did not even have access to the gym, and so was not put in the best possible conditions to practise his profession. The player is not necessarily making this a personal matter, but hopes that this complaint will also be of use to other players who have experienced similar situations, and will motivate them to take action.

It has to be said that the loft system is becoming increasingly popular in today’s football, as we saw at PSG this summer with players of the calibre of Marco Verratti and even Kylian Mbappé, before he was reintegrated into Luis Enrique’s squad. What’s more, in the event of a legal victory, the Italian player intends to donate the money won to the Neuroland association, which supports the families of children hospitalised with serious illnesses. So we can only hope that he wins this legal battle with his former club.
