Earthquake in Morocco: the world of sport rallies to help the victims

The world of sport has stepped up its tributes to Morocco following the powerful earthquake that has left thousands dead and injured since Friday evening. European football clubs and world-famous players gave their support to the kingdom in the face of this tragedy, as did the rugby world. Other sportsmen and women – cyclists, judokas and kickboxers – have also rallied to the cause.

The world of sport stands in solidarity with the Moroccan people. Tributes to the victims of the tragic earthquake in Morocco have been pouring in. Within hours of the natural disaster, which left thousands dead and injured, the Moroccan Football Federation announced the postponement of the CAN-2024 qualifier between Morocco and Liberia, originally scheduled for Saturday evening in Agadir.

In the aftermath, the Atlas Lions went to a hospital in the city to donate blood for the victims of the earthquake. One of them was PSG player Achraf Hakimi, who explained on X that «at the moment, the priority is to provide blood to those who are in a critical situation». National team coach Walid Regragui explained that «the example we set was to give blood. That’s the least we can do. After that, there will be other acts»

Right now, the priority is to provide blood to those in critical situations. Donating blood is everyone’s responsibility to save as many lives as possible. Your help is essential…
