PSG: Real Madrid want to impose clauses on Kylian Mbappé

According to the Madrid media, Real Madrid want to impose two clauses on the French striker’s future contract.

For the Spanish media, the international break is an opportunity to take stock of the Kylian Mbappé situation. Since the end of the summer transfer window, the Iberian publications had been rather discreet on the matter, and had not mentioned the Bondynois’ case much. But in a few months’ time, Real Madrid will finally be able to negotiate with the player without needing PSG’s agreement.

All indications are that the situation will not be reversed and that the main player concerned will not be extending his lease with Paris Saint-Germain. The pro-Madrid media outlet Defensa Central reports that Florentino Pérez and Real Madrid will try to include a big clause in the French striker’s contract in the negotiations due to start in January.

The newspaper reveals that Real Madrid want to include two release clauses in the player’s future contract. One for European clubs, which would be between €800 million and €1 billion. Enough to ward off competition from the English giants, for example. Then there’s another release clause specially designed for Saudi clubs, which would be well in excess of €1 billion. The media report mentions a possible clause of €1.2 billion. How this could be done legally remains to be seen.

But this desire to include a special anti-Saudi/Qatari clause is clear evidence of the paradigm shift in football today, and Florentino Pérez is fully aware of it, having lost Karim Benzema this summer, for example. The newspaper adds that the big European clubs are considering signing their best players to similar contracts. Stay tuned…
