BURKINA FASO / IRAN: TEHRAN IS SATISFIED WITH ITS COOPERATION WITH OUAGADOUGOU IN THE FIGHT AGAINST TERRORISM
Madam Olivia Rouamba, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation and burkinabe Abroad under the enlightened vision of Captain Ibrahim Traoré, Head of State, had an exchange on Tuesday August 29, 2023, with the Ambassador of the Republic of Iran, HE Mr. Mojtaba FAGHIHI. During this meeting, the Iranian ambassador expressed his country’s satisfaction with the rapprochement with Burkina Faso.
The Iranian ambassador stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran stands in solidarity with the burkinabe people and supports their firm determination to fight for their security and self-determination. He assured that the Transitional Government can always count on the support of his country in terms of training and military equipment.
For his part, the Burkinabe Minister of Foreign Affairs also benefited from the dynamics of strengthening relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran. HE Mrs. Olivia ROUAMBA also expressed her gratitude to the Islamic Republic of Iran for its support to Burkina Faso.
Ambassador FAGHIHI conveyed to Minister ROUAMBA an invitation from her Iranian counterpart for an official visit to Tehran.This invitation was favorably received by the head of Burkinabe diplomacy. This official visit should allow the two parties to harmonize their points of view in preparation for the first session of the Grand Joint Commission for Cooperation between Burkina Faso and the Islamic Republic of Iran, which will soon be held in Ouagadougou.
