Burkina Faso: Colonel Boukaré ZOUNGRANA is participating in the discussions for peace and social cohesion.

The Minister of Territorial Administration, Decentralization, and Security, Colonel Boukaré ZOUNGRANA, took part in the meeting, which the Burkina Dambé Loundé Association (BDL) organized. This meeting aimed at promoting peace and social cohesion. Various traditional and religious leaders from different parts of the country participated in this exchange.

Through this initiative, the BDL intends to encourage the national community to draw inspiration from traditional conflict management mechanisms such as dialogue, intercommunal consultation, solidarity, unity around traditional leadership, religious leadership, and government guidance.

The President of the Burkina Dambé Loundé Association, Mr. Idrissa ZONGO, expressed the hope that everyone would embrace the essential values and patriotism that have allowed our nation to exist and survive to this day.

He urged traditional and religious leaders to deliver messages of unity and solidarity to the population.

Minister Boukaré ZOUNGRANA appreciated the objectives pursued by the BDL, stating that they align with those of the Transition government in restoring Burkina Faso’s territorial integrity.

He added that the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) are fighting on the ground to restore the country’s integrity.

However, Minister ZOUNGRANA emphasized that they would not negotiate with terrorists, as stated by the President of the Transition.

He acknowledged that many of those fighting against them are their own brothers, and they are forced to respond to their attacks. The President’s intention, according to the Minister, is for these brothers to lay down their arms and return home.

Representatives of religious denominations and the High Council of Traditional Chiefs expressed their gratitude to the Burkina Dambé Loundé Association for its initiative. They all committed to supporting the association in its efforts to restore peace and social cohesion in Burkina Faso.
