Foot:  Zinedine Zidane’s son could play with the Algerian national team

What if Zinedine Zidane’s son, Luca, represented Algeria at the international level? It’s a possibility that cannot be ruled out, especially considering the young Eibar goalkeeper has expressed his clear ambition to wear the national team’s jersey.

With the aim of rejuvenating and strengthening the national team with talented players, the Algerian Football Federation and national coach Djamel Belmadi are working to convince certain dual-nationality players to choose Algeria.

They have already succeeded in doing so with left-back Rayane Ait-Nouri from Wolverhampton and midfielder Houssam Aouar from Olympique Lyonnais.

Indeed, it all started when the Algerian flag appeared in one of Luca Zidane’s Instagram stories. He made another post in the desert (it is unknown whether it was in Algeria or not) alongside his grandparents who are native Algerians.

As of press time, the Eibar goalkeeper (playing in the Spanish second division) has not expressed his desire to opt for Algeria. However, social media users interpret the young goalkeeper’s posts as a potential hint or appeal to Djamel Belmadi, the Algerian national team coach.

Who is Luca Zidane?

Born on May 13, 1998, in Marseille, Luca Zidane holds dual citizenship, French and Spanish. However, he could request Algerian nationality through his father, Zinedine, and his grandparents.

Having come through the famous Real Madrid Castilla academy, Luca Zidane was unable to establish himself in the first team. After stints at Racing Santander and Rayo Vallecano, he landed at SD Eibar last summer, applying the adage of taking a step back to leap forward.

It is worth noting that the 24-year-old goalkeeper is well aware that he is far from the French national team or even the Spanish national team, although he has represented France in youth categories.

Being eligible for Algeria, he would not want to miss this opportunity to have the status of an international player, especially considering that the Algerian national team is among the best in the African continent.
