Burkina Faso: At the heart of the ceremony commemorating the fifth anniversary of the resumption of diplomatic relations between Burkina Faso and the People’s Republic of China.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation, and Burkinabe Abroad, Her Excellency Madame Olivia ROUAMBA, took part on Saturday, May 27, 2023 in the commemorative ceremony marking the fifth anniversary of the resumption of diplomatic relations between Burkina Faso and the People’s Republic of China.
She stated, «Thanks to strong partnerships, our two countries have been able to implement numerous important development projects for the benefit of their respective populations, thus contributing to the improvement of their living conditions».
According to Her Excellency Madame Olivia ROUAMBA, thanks to this dynamic and exemplary cooperation, several projects have been completed or are currently underway.
These include the construction of a new hospital in Bobo-Dioulasso, the construction of 111 primary schools to reduce the number of schools under thatched roofs, the training of nearly a thousand Burkinabe professionals in various fields in the People’s Republic of China, and the granting of hundreds of scholarships to Burkinabe students.
The Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Burkina Faso, His Excellency Mr. Lu SHAN, also expressed his country’s satisfaction with this cooperation, which he believes is beneficial to both countries.
«The People’s Republic of China and Burkina Faso have remained true to their initial commitments and have shown unwavering support and solidarity. The two countries have thus proven through concrete actions that Sino-Burkinabe friendship can withstand any challenge», said the Chinese diplomat.
As a reminder, on May 26, 2018, Burkina Faso and the People’s Republic of China decided to restore their diplomatic ties after more than twenty years of interruption.
