Togo : The agricultural policy of Faure Gnassingbe, A real hub of development

Ensuring food self-sufficiency for the people of Togo is the new challenge that the President of the Republic, H.E. Mr. Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé taken up.  Indeed, the strategist has implemented measures to significantly increase agricultural production and provide quality products for processing industries, according to the country’s needs and priorities.

President Gnassingbé, recognizing agriculture as one of the driving forces of Togo’s economy, has placed producers at the center of the agricultural policy.

This signifies a strong collaboration between the President and his fellow citizens. Through this agricultural policy, the Head of State aims to create a longer value chain in on-site product transformation to generate local employment.

This policy by the Togolese President will benefit stakeholders in the agricultural sector, as they will witness improvements in their living conditions and income. In the future, they will also become consumers themselves.

When discussing agriculture, livestock cannot be overlooked. Producers will inevitably face the issue of transhumance. President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé’s agricultural policy takes this challenge into account by establishing a park where transhumant herders will be directed. This project will also create employment opportunities for local citizens.

Moreover, the Togolese President remains vigilant in addressing insecurity in the northern part of the country. He has launched a joint operation with a preventive, defensive, and offensive posture.

The President also implemented a deradicalization program, targeting those already involved in extremist movements, particularly the youth, to safeguard their future.

«We are determined to defend our country and protect our fellow citizens while preserving our humanity and values», reassured President Gnassingbé, adding, «We will reduce poverty and, most importantly, bring prosperity to our youth. We have created the necessary conditions».
