Burkina Faso: The Government encourages the use of Faso Dan Fani

The Burkinabe Government is encouraging the widespread use of Faso Dan Fani fabric and its adoption in school, military, and hotel uniforms, as well as in tourism agencies and by tour guides. In line with this objective, the Prime Minister, Mr. Apollinaire Joachimson Kyelem de Tambela, presided over the opening of the national forum on Faso Dan Fani in Ouagadougou.

This forum aims at enabling stakeholders in the cotton sector to discuss the challenges faced by the cotton transformation industry in order to promote the widespread use of this loincloth.

This first forum on Faso Dan Fani in Burkina Faso was held under the theme of «The issue of financial accessibility of Faso Dan Fani in Burkina Faso».

The Prime Minister reassured the participants of his commitment, as well as that of his entire government, to pay special attention to each constraint and difficulty hindering the development of the cotton sector and the proposed solutions.

The Burkinabe government aims to work towards improving the cotton transformation rate in Burkina Faso and thereby contribute to job creation, particularly for youth and women.

To operationalize this government ambition and ensure the consumption of products manufactured in Burkina Faso, the Prime Minister invited Burkinabe citizens to promote their cultural identity through the wearing of Faso Dan Fani, following the example set by members of the government.

« i call upon all Burkinabe, without any distinction, for a patriotic awakening by incorporating the wearing of Faso Dan Fani into our clothing habits», urged the Head of Government.

For the production of fruits and cereals, the Government will innovate in the search for means of preservation, and subsequently establish workshops or units for the transformation of agricultural and horticultural products.

According to the Head of Government, instructions have already been issued in this regard.
