Burkina Faso: the People’s Republic of China reiterate its unfailing support to Burkina Faso
Her Excellency Olivia ROUAMBA, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation, and Burkinabe Abroad, received on Monday, May 8, 2023, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Burkina Faso, His Excellency Mr. Lu SHAN.
Expressing satisfaction with the resumption of friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China welcomed the progress made by the FDS (Security and Defense Forces) and the VDP (Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland) in defending Burkina Faso’s territory.
His Excellency Shan has assured that his country remains committed to supporting the Burkinabe people, stating: «We are willing to strengthen mutual trust from a political perspective and to develop pragmatic cooperation with the Burkinabe authorities. »
H.E Madame Olivia ROUAMBA praised the strengthening of military cooperation and expressed gratitude to the People’s Republic of China for its support in acquiring logistics and military equipment.
The Burkinabe foreign minister also congratulated the People’s Republic of China for reopening its borders after the wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Her Excellency Madame ROUAMBA stated, «Burkina Faso also knows it can count on the unwavering support of its major partner in international forums».
According to the Chinese Ambassador, Beijing attaches great importance to the resumption of ties with Ouagadougou.
He also announced the celebration of the fifth anniversary of the resumption of cooperation between the two countries on May 27th in Ouagadougou.
