Burkina Faso: Minister Boukaré Zoungrana decreases the costs of the 2023 Hajj

According to the Minister of Territorial Administration, Decentralization, and Security, Colonel Boukaré ZOUNGRANA, the increase in costs of services which Saudi Arabian providers provided, has led to the rise in the cost of Hajj.

The Burkinabe side, in an effort to reach a relatively acceptable cost for its pilgrims, continued discussions with the Saudi side. These negotiations resulted in a decrease in the cost of these services.

Therefore, the Minister of Territorial Administration, Decentralization, and Security has the honor to inform the general population and the Islamic community of Burkina Faso in particular, that the cost of Hajj for 2023 has now been set at 3,237,450 XOF. That represents a reduction of 355,550 XOF.

This cost is broken down as follows: 1,143,688.5 XOF for Saudi services (Mina, Arafat, Muzdalifa, internal transport, visas, and insurance); 1,118,750 XOF for the round-trip air ticket; 975,000 XOF for the services of travel and tourism agencies (accommodations in Medina and Mecca, support for delegates and supervisors in Burkina Faso and Saudi Arabia).

This amount of three million two hundred thirty-seven thousand four hundred fifty (3,237,450) XOF does not include the price of the sacrificial animal (mouton), which remains entirely the responsibility of the pilgrim.

The Minister invites travel and tourism agency managers to refund the difference of three hundred fifty-five thousand five hundred fifty (355,550) XOF to all pilgrims who have already paid the initial amount.

Col Boukaré Zoungrana takes this opportunity to express his gratitude to the Saudi authorities, congratulate and encourage all stakeholders who worked with steadfastness and selflessness for this successful outcome.
