DRC: the government has launched a peace project for the stabilization of the northern zone of the country.

The Congolese government launched Thursday, December 8, 2022, the project « Muda wa Amani » (I am for peace) to contribute to the stabilization efforts of the northern part of the Bwito chiefdom of the territory of Rutshuru, the South of Lubero and the Ikobo-Walikale grouping of the Democratic Republic of Congo. This project aims to implement concrete and lasting solutions for the transformation of conflicts related to identity mobilization and the security dilemma. The project is funded by the government, its technical and financial partners and the population.

« We must all get involved (territorial administrators, technical and financial partners, PDDRC/S cadres) as one man, to give hope for peace to our fellow citizens who have among other major concerns to live in a stable world, free from the torments of war, » recommended the Deputy Governor for the achievement of the common ideal targeted by this project funded by the I4S program, Before expressing his gratitude to the Stabilization Support Unit at the within MONUSCO for the financing of this very important project.

As for the Provincial Authority, the materialization of this project constitutes a path to peace by the fact that its objective is to allow better living for peace in a region bruised by about three decades of instability.

The head of the MONUSCO-Goma office, Ms. Laila Buhuril, for her part, recommended the combined efforts of all parties for this project of crucial importance because, he said, in addition to considering the reintegration and integration of ex-combatants into community life, he ensures their socio-economic recovery while advocating the participation of women in working life.

It should be noted that this project aims to reach 7,436 people, among them community leaders and other representatives of dynamic groups, including 3,965 women to be involved in democratic dialogue and alternative conflict resolution mechanisms. 5,892 people will be directly affected through the labour-intensive work (HIMO) in the context of disarmament, demobilization and reintegration targeting primarily ex-combatants, young people in the context of disarmament, demobilization and reintegration targeting ex-combatants, young people in the context of at risk, girls, women and other marginalized groups.
