Health: Two million doses of cholera vaccine to be delivered to Syria.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced the shipment of about two million doses of cholera vaccine to Syria.

The WHO said in a statement on Tuesday that nearly two million doses of cholera vaccine will be sent to the cities of Aleppo, Raqqa, Hasaka and Deir Ezzor, where the outbreak has grown, starting December 4.

The statement said, citing the representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), Ghada Kachachi, that the epidemic primarily affects children.

Kachachi stressed that the timely delivery of vaccines is a top priority for UNICEF.

In this context, the Syrian regime’s Ministry of Health announced that it had detected 1,298 cases of cholera, and reported 49 deaths in areas under its control. While 21305 suspected cases of cholera have been identified by WHO in areas under occupation of the terrorist organization « YPG/PKK ».

It should be noted that cholera has claimed the lives of 88 people across Syria, while the number of infections has reached 31,544 cases.
