Cameroun: Peace, a symbolic gesture for President Paul Biya

President Paul Biya, despite his age, still has all his senses to lead the destiny of his country. Aware of the challenges to be satisfied for an even more united society Cameroon, the Head of State has accepted to respond favourably to the will of the people. He still has solutions in his pocket to carry for the development of his country.

Let us not lose sight of the strategy put in place by President Biya in the Anglophone crisis that shook Cameroon. confrontation between the forces and the law and order and separatists led to the arrest 289 people. Facing this crisis President Paul Biya decided to make a gesture of appeasement towards the Anglophone community. He decided to get in touch with Anglophone separatists by order the charges to be dropped against not less than 289 people. As a result of this measure the Head of State wishes to encourage the youth to renounce violence to get back on the right track.

President Biya, concerned about the advent of terrorists who are rampaging through some countries in the sub-region, said « I think what is still happening in Mali, northern Nigeria and Kenya concerns us all. It is only time to stop the advance of these new invaders. « And, of course, our continental organisation has a crucial role to play in this. For several years, we have been discussing the construction of a peace and security architecture at the continental level. The issue is complex, I admit. But we have made progress, » he added.

Protecting the most vulnerable, promoting fairer and more inclusive governance, founding a true community of destiny, are among the ambitions of President Paul Biya for Cameroon.

The Cameroonian Head of State reiterated the government’s unwavering determination to restore peace in regions plagued by security threats. He therefore invited his compatriots to intensify collaboration with the defence and security forces in order to neutralise the fanatics of armed violence and preserve the integrity of the territory.

At the economic level, the Head of State considered that the measures taken, in an environment where the credibility of Cameroun’s signature has been confirmed, make it possible to optimistically envisage an economic recovery and an increase in the growth rate to 4.2% in 2022, compared to 3.6% in 2021.
