Burkina Faso / Fight Against Terrorism: President Ibrahim Traoré visits wounded soldiers

The primary mission of a Head of State President Ibrahim Traoré is to ensure the well-being, protection, and security of its population. Burkina Faso, engaged in a war against terrorism, requires the mobilization of all able-bodied individuals to defend the country.

The Transitional President, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, not being a leader who abandons his fighters on the battlefield, took it upon himself to meet with his compatriots who were wounded in action. The President’s objective in this approach is to inquire about the health status of these wounded individuals, learn about their living conditions, and convey the gratitude of the entire Burkinabè people for their heroic work on behalf of the nation.

During the discussions, participants unanimously acknowledged the efforts made by the government towards them and thanked the Head of State for these actions. This meeting was an invaluable opportunity for these wounded soldiers in action, some of whom still bear physical and psychological scars, to express their grievances and concerns regarding their health status.

There were discussions about career management, including promotions and training, improving the technical capabilities of the military medical center, and providing psychological support to wounded soldiers in action. They also mentioned their encouragement through decorations, operational bonuses, reassignment to less demanding roles, retraining for other professions or functions, and the assignment of their spouses to their place of residence to facilitate the management of their disability or handicap.

Having observed the sensitivity of the situation of these wounded soldiers in action, President Ibrahim Traoré emphasized the establishment of a Military Health Insurance Fund, training and retraining programs, and the implementation of an agency for career management, the operationalization of which will be enacted in the coming days.

Once again, President Ibrahim Traoré has shown to the national and international community that a good leader must listen to his people, especially in difficult times
