Togo/Commerce: The Togolese Government goes further in its policy to promote local consumption

For nearly five (05) years, the Togolese government, specifically the Ministry responsible for trade and local consumption, has implemented a policy aimed at promoting products from local processing industries within the population.

The Togolese executive has introduced initiatives to encourage citizens to consume local products and services, thereby supporting and promoting entrepreneurship, particularly in the agri-food sector in Togo.

The private sector is a crucial component for endogenous development in the country.

Promotional initiatives for these products include the establishment of October as the month of local consumption, now in its 4th edition in 2023, and the Made in Togo Fair dedicated solely to promoting local products.

During these events, national entrepreneurs and producers have the opportunity to showcase their various products through exhibitions.

This time, the government has conceived something more enduring—a permanent platform for the promotion of local products and services.

This takes the form of a supermarket named «TOGO MALL», inaugurated last Thursday, November 23.

Housed within the Togolese Center for Exhibitions and Fairs in Lomé (CETEF), the supermarket aims to be a permanent showcase for local products.

Consumers can now visit at any time to purchase products from their fellow entrepreneurs, boosting their entrepreneurial activities and contributing to the growth of the national economy.
