Habib Beye may not complete the season with Red Star, the club where he narrowly missed promotion to Ligue 2 last season. The Franco-Senegalese coach is currently on the radar of a struggling Ligue 1 club early in this season.

Coaching has been a long-standing aspiration for him, and Red Star provided him with the opportunity to fulfill his dream in 2021 by appointing him as the head coach after a successful transition.

However, just one season later, the former Marseille defender could be considering a change and aiming for a higher level.

According to reports from “L’Equipe”, Habib Beye has been interviewed by Olympique Lyonnais (OL) to potentially take over from Laurent Blanc, who is likely facing his last days on the sidelines of the club due to a tumultuous start to the season.

Currently, discussions are ongoing between both parties, but Beye’s profile has caught the attention of the Lyon management.

However, Lyon is also considering other coaches, including German Oliver Glasner, who won the Europa League in 2022 with Eintracht Frankfurt, and Italian Gennaro Gattuso.

It appears that the possibility of Graham Potter taking the role is unlikely, as the British coach wants to take his time before making a move after a disappointing experience at Chelsea last season.

The final decision by John Textor and his board should be made soon.
