Burkina Faso: The bravery of the fighting Forces under the leadership of President Ibrahim Traoré in the reconquest of the national territory
Since the ascension of President Ibrahim Traoré to the head of the country, the Fighting Forces have demonstrated unshakeable determination in the reconquest of the national territory. Their courage, tenacity and tireless commitment have been highlighted by a series of daring operations against terrorist groups.
Over the past few days, the Fighting Forces have succeeded in neutralising more than a hundred terrorists on several fronts.
Their operations have also led to the seizure of a large quantity of drugs and logistical equipment, reducing the resources of the criminal groups.
One of the most striking operations took place on September,1st 2023, when the intelligence services located around sixty terrorists holidaying by a small pond in the Oursi area.
These assailants were spread across three pickups and motorbikes. The fighting forces reacted with impressive speed, launching air strikes that completely destroyed these means of transport and eliminated dozens of terrorists.
In the Sahel region, the Fighting forces followed the trail of terrorists operating along the Gorom-Gorom-Markoye axis to their base at Gagara, in the Salmossi area.
A daring operation was carried out, resulting in the successful elimination of some forty criminals from their hideout.
Another milestone in this campaign has been the collaboration between the fighting forces and the volunteers for the defence of the Homeland (VDP), supported by the «7th Rapid Intervention Battalion».
Since 7 August 2023, these combined forces have been conducting a vast operation in western Burkina Faso, where several terrorist bases have been destroyed in the provinces of Houet, Kénédougou and Cascades.
After many fierce battles, the Fighting Forces got the better of the criminals.
The results speak for themselves: at least 65 bodies of terrorists were found. Valuable vehicles, weapons, ammunition, explosives, military uniforms, foodstuffs, livestock, communications equipment and other items were recovered.
In addition, the Fighting Forces seized and destroyed a large quantity of drugs, thus contributing to the degradation of the financial resources of the criminal groups.
