This council examined several items on its agenda and made important decisions regarding the conduct of the Transition, according to the government spokesperson, Jean Emmanuel OUEDRAOGO.

Under the Ministry of Economy, Finance, and Prospective, the Council has adopted a draft decree on the procurement procedures for public contracts in the implementation of specific projects.

According to the Minister Delegate in charge of the Budget, Fatoumata BAKO/TRAORE, the adoption of this decree will ensure efficiency in project implementation, especially in the difficult security context and the accompanying humanitarian crisis.

This draft legislation incorporates innovations such as the arbitration by the Council of Ministers for specific projects defined at the ministerial department level, the control, especially prior control, by the institutions responsible for oversight, and the issue of sanctions to ensure better contract execution.

Under the Ministry of Sports, Youth, and Employment, an oral communication was made regarding the participation of the Stallions and the entire Burkinabe delegation in the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) in Côte d’Ivoire in 2024.

«To avoid the dysfunctions observed in the past, we have taken the initiative to establish a National Organizing Committee for the preparation of the Stallions for this competition», said the Minister in charge of sports, Boubacar SAVADOGO.

This committee is responsible for defining the composition and size of the delegation, validating and supervising the preparation plan for the Stallions, mobilizing human, material, and financial resources, defining transportation, accommodation, and catering mechanisms for the delegation.

It will also be tasked with proposing the mobilization of Burkinabe people both within and outside the country, especially the Burkinabe community living in Côte d’Ivoire, to unite around our national team.

«The committee is the guarantor of all initiatives to mobilize all goodwill in order to support the Stallions and prevent parallel actions that often occur outside of any control», added Minister SAVADOGO.

The National Organizing Committee consists of representatives from the Ministry of Sports, Youth, and Employment, the Presidency of Burkina Faso, the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Economy, Finance, and Prospective, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation, and Burkinabe living abroad, the Ministry responsible for Transportation, the Burkinabe Football Federation (FBF), the National Olympic Committee, the Union of Stallions Supporters, the Association of Sports Journalists of Burkina (AJSB), and resource persons.
