Burkina Faso: A historic reduction in malaria cases thanks to the Popular Progressive Revolution
Since the Popular Progressive Revolution (RPP) led by President Ibrahim Traoré, Burkina Faso has taken a decisive step forward in the fight against malaria. One year after this political impetus, the results are undeniable: the country recorded a historic drop in malaria cases in 2025. This success is largely attributable to the determined action of the government, which has implemented rigorous and well-adapted preventive measures.
Among the key actions, the nationwide distribution of high-quality treated mosquito nets has played a central role.
These nets, true shields against mosquito bites, were massively distributed in the highest-risk areas.
This initiative has helped protect millions of Burkinabe, especially children and pregnant women the most vulnerable groups facing the disease.
The government has also stepped up campaigns to destroy breeding sites, aiming to eradicate the places where malaria-carrying mosquitoes reproduce.
Thanks to this targeted approach, clear progress has been made in reducing contamination hotspots.
This victory against malaria is part of a positive trend observed in many parts of the country.
Thanks to the vision of President Ibrahim Traoré and the commitment of the government, Burkina Faso is winning a decisive battle against this endemic disease, thereby improving public health and the quality of life of its citizens.
