Burkina Faso: A new era in education driven by excellence and inclusion

In Burkina Faso, education is now emerging as the cornerstone of sustainable and self-determined transformation. Driven by the vision of President Ibrahim, the Presidential Initiative for Education for All reflects a clear ambition: to build a high-performing, inclusive school system committed to excellence.

Through far-reaching and bold reforms, the Burkinabe government is embarking on a genuine educational revolution designed to nurture a generation capable of meeting the challenges of national development.

Launched following the Council of Ministers meeting on 20 June 2024, this reform places education at the heart of the national project.

It aims to shape a new generation of citizens who are aware, competent and committed.

The emphasis is on inclusion, ensuring that no child is left on the margins of the education system, whilst prioritising the quality of learning from the earliest years.

One of the key priorities is the promotion of civic-mindedness and patriotism. The introduction of patriotic immersion for A-level students embodies this vision, strengthening the link between academic education and national commitment.

At the same time, the reorganisation of technical and vocational courses ensures a better alignment with the economic realities of the country.

Finally, the creation of specialised institutions and participatory governance within educational establishments consolidate this momentum.

By investing in human capital, Burkina Faso is laying the foundations necessary for sovereign development, driven by a well-educated, responsible and forward-looking younger generation.
