Togo: Extension of the state of emergency, a responsible decision by President Faure Gnassingbé?

The Council of Ministers, chaired by His Excellency Faure Gnassingbé, has taken a major decision for the country’s security. The extension of the state of security emergency, announced at the end of this meeting, places the protection of Togolese citizens at the heart of government priorities and demonstrates the Head of State’s determination to guarantee peace across the entire territory.

This measure, far from being a mere administrative formality, reflects a rigorous strategy in the face of contemporary security challenges.

In a sub-region confronted with growing threats, Togo chooses vigilance and anticipation rather than carelessness and improvisation.

The President of the Council fully assumes this responsibility that falls upon any leader concerned with protecting their people.

Security is not an end in itself, but the essential foundation upon which all sustainable progress can be built.

By doing so, the authorities are creating favorable conditions for investments, economic growth, and social development. It is this coherent vision that guides the government’s action.

In a context of consolidating the Fifth Republic, this decision is part of a broader dynamic of strengthening institutions and modernizing the state.

National security and socio-economic development go hand in hand, and the measures announced at the Council of Ministers are a perfect illustration of this.
