Cameroon: Life and death belong to God, beyond the manipulations surrounding the death of opposition leader Anicet Ekane
Life and death lie beyond human will, being subject to divine decree. Each individual is born and dies according to the plan that God has laid out for them. The passing of the opposition figure Anicet Ekane, which occurred this Monday while in detention, is being swiftly seized upon by some as fodder for political manipulation.
However, it is crucial to remember that no one can escape their destiny. If God determined that his time had come, this falls under divine wisdom, and there is no maltreatment or injustice at the origin of this loss.
Admittedly, some seek to exploit this situation to manipulate public opinion and create political tension. But the facts are clear: Anicet Ekane suffered from a long illness and was under the care of his own doctors at a medical center.
It is therefore manipulative to claim he was a victim of poor treatment in prison. The sorrow of his passing must not be turned into an instrument for personal and political manipulation.
It is also important to recall that another great leader, Nelson Mandela, spent many years in prison.
Yet, divine will allowed for his release, as it was not yet his time. The same rule applies to Anicet Ekane. Politics must not interfere with the understanding of life and death, which belong to God alone.
This time, the people are not fooled, and this pill will not be swallowed. Attempts to instrumentalize this death to create controversy will not be accepted.
Those who seek to use this tragedy for political ends must understand that this strategy will only further divide society. The truth is simple: life and death are in God’s hands, and it is futile to try to manipulate events to serve hidden interests.
