Mali: Cultural heritage at the heart of the national cohesion reconciliation process

Under the High Patronage of the President of Mali, General Assimi Goïta, the Ministry of Reconciliation, Peace, and National Cohesion has launched the 4th edition of the National Reconciliation Week (Senare). This event is part of a robust political effort to strengthen national unity and reinforce the bonds among the peoples of the Sahel.
The National Reconciliation Week (Senare) has established itself as a key platform for dialogue and the renewal of social contracts.
Centered on the theme of cultural heritage as a driver of peace, the event aims to celebrate the shared heritage of the peoples of Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger, members of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES).
Through this initiative, Mali reaffirms its commitment to leveraging culture as a cornerstone of reconciliation and social cohesion.
The event provides a tangible space for dialogue, mutual understanding, and forgiveness essential elements for healing past wounds and building a shared future.
In his address, the Prime Minister called for unified efforts to achieve lasting peace, underscoring the state’s strong commitment to supporting reconciliation through concrete actions.
These efforts reflect a clear political will to place cultural heritage at the heart of the peace process, in line with the vision of the Head of State.
Within the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), where peoples share intertwined histories, languages, and traditions, such initiatives deserve to be encouraged and expanded.
They strengthen the national fabric, foster regional solidarity, and pave the way for lasting stability.
Through this initiative, Mali reaffirms its commitment to nationalizing the reconciliation process and building a sustainable peace, anchored in shared values and collective memory.
