Burkina Faso army chief visits frontline garrisons to boost troop morale

Colonel Hamed Hermann Rouamba, Chief of Staff of Burkina Faso’s Army (CEMAT), recently conducted an inspection tour of key military garrisons in the country’s Second Military Region, including Bobo-Dioulasso (Hauts-Bassins), Banfora (Cascades), and Gaoua (South-West).
This marks his first visit since assuming command in January 2025, reinforcing troop morale amid ongoing counterterrorism operations.
Accompanied by senior officers, Col. Rouamba met with frontline soldiers, delivering a strong message of unity, resilience, and support.

He praised their discipline and dedication while assessing operational conditions and listening to concerns from local commanders.
The tour emphasized military discipline, cohesion, and civil-military cooperation, which Rouamba called “a key factor in defeating armed groups.”
Closed-door discussions with troops strengthened trust between leadership and rank-and-file soldiers.
Expressing satisfaction with his forces’ commitment, Rouamba urged continued professionalism in defending national sovereignty.
Soldiers reaffirmed their resolve despite persistent security challenges.
