7-Year-old boy donates cement to Burkina Faso’s Presidential initiative

In Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, public contributions to President Ibrahim Traoré’s Faso Mêbo initiative continue to grow. Among the latest donors is seven-year-old Kris Ivan Zida, a first-grade student who symbolically donated seven bags of cement and seven packs of water matching his age to support national development efforts.
The young boy explained that he was inspired after seeing his father contribute to the presidential project. “Hello, Captain Ibrahim Traoré,” Kris said during his donation at the Lycée Philippe Zinda Kaboré on June 23, 2025. “I brought cement so you can build our country. I brought seven bags of cement and seven packs of water.”
When asked how he funded his donation, Kris revealed he saved money from holiday gifts and school allowances over the years.
“I practiced Nee Taabo (saving). My dad gave me money, and my mom bought me a savings box. I kept my money inside,” he shared.
Kris also encouraged other children and adults to follow his example: “Hello aunties, hello uncles save your money and buy cement for Captain Traoré so he can build our country.”
His gesture highlights the widespread public engagement with the Faso Mêbo initiative, launched by President Traoré to mobilize grassroots support for Burkina Faso’s infrastructure and development.
