Mali’s council of ministers adopts key measures under transitional leadership

Under the leadership of  the President of Mali General Assimi Goïta,  the weekly council of Ministers convened on June 18, 2025, approving critical measures across security, infrastructure, and economic development.

Security & defense reforms

The council established a Special Operations command to enhance coordination among elite units combating growing security threats.

The new structure will feature a dedicated planning center and operational leadership to improve counterterrorism efficacy.

Infrastructure & urban development

4-billion CFA sludge treatment plant in Tienfala was greenlit to improve Bamako’s sanitation.

The government also allocated land parcels nationwide for military infrastructure projects and adopted a 2034 National Livestock Security Strategy to safeguard Mali’s pastoral economy.

Economic & diplomatic progress

Ministers approved Mali’s 2026-2028 Multiyear Budget Plan, prioritizing sustainable development and economic growth.

The country’s removal from the FATF “grey list” marks a milestone for financial credibility.

Internationally, Mali reinforced ties through the African Political Alliance and China-Africa Cooperation Forum.

Social & public sector initiatives

Upcoming projects include energy, water, and sanitation upgrades in Kayes and Bamako. The government also announced the Sahel Alliance Games and African Public Service Day, underscoring commitments to youth engagement and institutional modernization.
