Burkina Faso: The government is recruiting more than 15,000 civil servants in 2026, sending a strong signal for employment

The Burkinabe government announced a major decision this week during the Council of Ministers meeting. In 2026, the state will recruit 15,512 civil servants, divided between professional competitions and direct competitions. This news will give hope to thousands of young people seeking employment.

The details of the recruitment are as follows: 2,517 positions will be filled through professional competitions, allowing existing civil servants to advance their careers.

For direct competitions, 12,995 positions are available, including 11,168 requiring training and 1,827 requiring no prior training. A wide range of profiles will thus be welcomed into the civil service.

According to the official statement, this decision aims to strengthen the human resource capacities of ministries and institutions, while ensuring respect for the right of civil servants to promotion.

Behind the figures is the desire to better serve the population: more civil servants, better trained, for a more efficient administration.

Under the leadership of Captain Ibrahim Traoré, President of Burkina Faso, the message that the authorities want to convey is that, while the public administration cannot offer jobs to everyone, the state intends to play its sovereign role in reducing the number of unemployed people.

This policy is part of a broader vision in which employment is not just a matter of civil service examinations.
