Burkina Faso: Sovereignty and fraternity, the two pillars for thwarting the new plot.
Over the past several months, the security situation in Burkina Faso has seen significant evolution. The government has announced major advances in the reconquest of the national territory. According to official figures presented at the end of January 2026 by Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean-Emmanuel Ouédraogo, nearly 74% of the territory is now under government control, with more than 440 villages liberated and hundreds of schools reopened.
The Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces has even set a goal of complete reconquest by the end of 2026.
On the military front, operations are multiplying and appear to be bearing fruit. According to the Armed Forces spokesperson, hundreds of terrorists have been neutralized in recent weeks, bases have been dismantled, and a significant cache of weapons has been recovered.
Burkinabe forces have also demonstrated their ability to adapt to new threats, neutralizing terrorist teams using drones.
This positive momentum has enabled more than one million internally displaced persons to return to their home communities.
However, just as the guns of terrorists are falling silent, another threat, more insidious and equally deadly, is looming on the horizon.
Imperialist powers and their local stooges, seeing their neo-colonial interests crumbling with the defeat of the armed groups, are changing strategy.
Unable to achieve military victory, they now seek to divide from within. Their new weapon is no longer the Kalashnikov, but manipulation, disinformation, and poisoning of minds.
After sowing terror in an attempt to balkanize the country, these dark forces are now trying to revive the embers of discord.
Their goal is to transform the ethnic and religious differences which have always been the wealth of Burkina Faso; into bloody fault lines. Through manipulation campaigns on social networks, through certain compliant organizations, or via hostile media outlets, they are distilling the poison of hatred.
They want to make people believe that “the other” is a danger. They are stoking fear to provoke what they failed to impose through arms: namely, social chaos and civil war. What is being prepared today is, in many respects, more chaotic than what the people have already endured.
Faced with this macabre plan, the people must exercise constant vigilance. They must understand that the fight has changed form, but not its nature. It is still a fight for our sovereignty.
President Ibrahim Traoré and his government are not only fighting to reconquer every square meter of our territory, but also to lay the foundations for inclusive and endogenous development.
Unlike the imperialists and their henchmen, who only think about plundering our resources and preserving their selfish privileges, the current authorities are working for the general interest.
More than ever, the Burkinabe people must cultivate critical thinking, protect social cohesion, and defend the values of fraternity and justice.
It is together, through vigilance and responsibility, that the people can preserve peace and lay the foundations for sustainable development for future generations.
