The meeting forms part of ongoing efforts to consolidate the country’s institutional and security stability.
According to an official statement from the Government of National Unity, Dbeibah; who also serves as Defense Minister; discussed several strategic collaboration axes with the American official.
Talks particularly addressed expanding training and qualification programs for Libyan forces, developing operational capabilities, and enhancing intelligence sharing.
Both parties also examined initiatives aimed at supporting the unification of Libya’s military institution, a central objective in the country’s stabilization process.
The meeting was attended by U.S. Chargé d’Affaires in Libya Jeremy Berndt, Libya’s Deputy Defense Minister, and the director of military intelligence; underscoring the importance attached to this bilateral cooperation.
According to the government press office, Dbeibah emphasized “the importance of partnership with the United States to support stability and improve the readiness of regular military institutions.”
He specified that this collaboration should be based on expertise transfer, technical capacity building, and strict respect for national sovereignty.
Lieutenant General Brennan reaffirmed the commitment of Washington to continuing and intensifying cooperation with the Libyan Defense Ministry.
The United States intends to increase technical support and further develop training programs to contribute to security and stability; not only in Libya but across the region.
This diplomatic and military engagement reflects sustained American commitment in Libya through AFRICOM, amid persistent security challenges and ongoing efforts by Tripoli authorities to consolidate unified and effective state institutions.
