Football/ Lesotho has its new head coach
Lesotho, which is competing in the preliminary qualifying round for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations against the Seychelles, has officially announced the arrival of Atang “Bob” Mafoso for the next two years.
A renowned local coach, he previously worked in Namibia with African Stars FC. His arrival is part of an ambitious policy to qualify for the next Africa Cup of Nations, which seems a little premature for a team ranked 143rd in the FIFA rankings.
Nevertheless, under the leadership of its new federation president, Lijane Nthunya, optimism is high and new rules are in place: for the first time, the national coach will be required to devote himself solely to this job without holding a position at a club.
