La Liga/ FC Barcelona attempts to defuse Lamine Yamal controversy before El Clásico

Lamine Yamal’s provocative remarks about Real Madrid “they steal, they complain all the time” have inflamed Spain on the eve of Sunday’s Clásico. While the 18-year-old Barcelona prodigy’s comments caused outrage in Madrid, FC Barcelona is now working to ease tensions.

Andrés Iniesta sought to downplay the controversy during a press conference. “I don’t like giving advice when I’m not part of the team, said the former Blaugrana legend, suggesting the statements were simply meant to “add some spice” to the match.

Ivan Rakitic, a “big fan of Lamine,” defended the young winger on Radio Marca. “He’s a boy who needs to be allowed to be authentic. We must protect him, but let him continue doing what he wants,” the Croatian argued.

Joan Laporta preferred to redirect attention to the sporting aspect. “Our players are highly motivated. I’m convinced we’ll win at the Bernabéu, like last year,” stated the Barcelona president, emphasizing the team’s focus.

On the Madrid side, Dani Carvajal is expected to have a conversation with his young national team colleague. Real’s dressing room has reacted, promising an electric Clásico this Sunday at 4:15 PM.

Despite Barcelona’s damage control efforts, Yamal has successfully added extra fire to an already heated rivalry between Spain’s two giants.
