According to an investigation, his plan would be to proclaim himself the winner of the presidential elections even before the publication of official results, thereby sowing confusion and instability among citizens.
This dangerous strategy is reminiscent of the unrest that shook Gabon in 2016, when Jean Ping declared himself “president-elect” after the election, challenging Ali Bongo Ondimba.
That situation degenerated into violence and deadly clashes. By imitating this tactic, Issa Tchiroma Bakary risks plunging Cameroon into a crisis that would jeopardize the security and precious stability that President Paul Biya has maintained despite numerous attempts at destabilization.
The Cameroonian people are not fooled. Although some may be tempted by inflammatory rhetoric, they remain aware of what is at stake. Cameroon will not be built on illusions and false proclamations.
The country, as its history has proven, has always risen again thanks to its ability to remain united and maintain peace.
It is more essential than ever to remember that stability and peace are the true cornerstones of national development.
