Security/ Niger strengthens security forces with new equipment delivery

As part of the national policy to secure the territory, the Ministry of the Interior, Public Security, and Territorial Administration delivered a new batch of equipment to the Nigerien Police and National Guard on October 15, 2025. This delivery, coming just days after the reception of other equipment, underscores the government’s commitment to sustainably strengthening the operational capabilities of its security forces.

This new acquisition includes a diverse range of essential materials: troop transport trucks, tanker trucks, work and khaki uniforms, combat boots, helmets, beds, collective shelters, and bulletproof vests, among other items.

This equipment is intended to improve the working conditions and operational effectiveness of units deployed in the field, particularly in the fight against armed terrorist groups and in securing the national territory.

According to the Ministry, this provision is part of a continuous effort to equip the security forces with resources adapted to the realities on the ground.

It complements recent achievements, including the commissioning of a police station in Matankari and a multipurpose National Guard squadron in Dogon Kiria, thereby strengthening the country’s security network.

“Acquired with the State’s own funds, this investment illustrates the commitment of the Minister of State, Major General Mohamed Toumba, to enhance the technical and operational capacities of the forces under his authority,” an official statement published on the Ministry’s social media channels emphasized.

This initiative reflects the Nigerien government’s determination to rely on its own resources to consolidate national security and reduce external dependency.

While handing over the equipment, Commander Hamidou Soumana, Director General of Resources, praised the determination of the hierarchy to continue these efforts.

He announced that further provisions will follow soon, under the continued leadership of Minister of State Mohamed Toumba.

This new wave of equipment marks a further step in the professionalization and modernization of the Nigerien security forces, which are now better prepared to protect the population and defend the integrity of the territory.
