Malian army announces major victory with neutralization of senior terrorist leader

The Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) have announced a significant strategic victory in their counter-terrorism operations. In a large-scale operation on Saturday, October 4, 2025, in the Ségou region, troops neutralized a major terrorist leader identified as N’Dour.
According to an official statement from the army, N’Dour, from Souraka Singo, was a key orchestrator of deadly attacks that have targeted civilian populations in the Ségou region.
He led an active armed group responsible for ambushes, targeted assassinations, and sabotage against defense forces and local communities.
The military credited the success of the precisely planned mission to the coordinated work of intelligence units and special forces, which allowed them to strike with accuracy and prevent further planned attacks.
The General Staff praised the professionalism and courage of the soldiers involved.
Army Chief of Staff, General Oumar Diarra, reaffirmed the FAMa’s total resolve to defend Malian territory and continue operations to neutralize remaining enemy strongholds.
